Oneida Valley, PA
Pennsylvania American Water’s Oneida Valley water treatment plant receives raw water from the Oneida and Thorn Run reservoirs via a gravity-fed system. The water flows from the reservoirs and passes through a pressure reduction valve (PRV).
In February 2012, Rentricity completed the installation of a Flow-to-Wire™ energy recovery system and fully integrated the technology with the plant’s existing infrastructure. The system was custom designed for the site’s unique hydraulic conditions and yields a generating capacity capable of 30 kW, generating 131.4 megawatt hours annually. As a result, the water treatment plant has successfully reduced their reliance on electricity purchased from the grid.
